John Thomas's plant and animal cell

There are a lot of things that make up a plant and animal cell. Like a nucleous; vacuole and other things. I hope that you like it.

Caroline's Science Project

These are my plant and animal cells. I made them out of fishing line, yarn, play-doh, buttons, and sticks. At the bottom of the paper I made a key to tell what the objects were.

Construction!!!

YEAH !! We finally have construction crews on site to start working on our new building. This is a very welcome sight. How exciting for all of us at CA! Check back often to see the building as it progresses.

Needed project items

We have several hands on activities/projects that we will be working on in the coming days. There are items that we need help collecting. It would be so helpful to us if you could start gathering these items and sending them in ASAP. Some of the items are:
more magazines, pictures of dogs (magazine or newspaper), small, empty, clear plastic bottles (water bottles), empty orange juice cylinders, a small potted tree, yarn, a small amount of sand, votive candles, small, bite sized candies (Hershey's kisses, Starbursts, etc. ), a nutcracker, a few walnuts, stationary including envelopes.
Thank you tremendously for your time and effort in being involved in your child's education. As always, you are welcome to visit us during the school day at any time to observe or even participate in any of these activities with your 4th grader. Let me know if you are interested and I will provide you with approproate times.

A social studies mural

This is a social studies mural the students did on Ancient Indians from chapter one. They had a great time drawing each part and discussing how each group of indians obtained food and other necessary items. We took a picture of it before we cut it apart for each student to take their section home. Nice work!

Caught Being Good!

Caroline was "Caught Being Good" this week. During an activity with index cards, she loaned some to another student before I could get some out of my desk to loan to him. She has a very generous spirit and a helpful nature. Thank you, Caroline. What a great asset you are to our classrrom.

Fourth Grade Fun at the Fair

What a great time we all had at the fair! All of the students were so well behaved and had a great time. Thanks to all the parents who volunteered to drive and chaperone us on the trip. We couldn't have gone without you. A big shout of thanks to the Covenant Academy food booth, Mrs. Earline, and Mr. Geoff for feeding and watering us. It was awesome.

Caroline's Palace

I was so excited when I heard we were going to make palaces. I made it out of a shoebox, sticks, rocks, and spraypaint. My mom helped me make it.

John Thomas's palace

This is my palace. I made it all by myself. It took me about 1 hour and thirty minuites to make it. I love my palace. I hope you like it. It is the best craft that I've made this summer....

This is my Solomon's palace. I learned he used the wisdom that God gave him.

P.A.T. Meeting

There will be an organizational meeting for the P.A.T. on Thursday, Spetember 6 at 5:30 p.m. Officers will be elected at this meeting. Please attend if you are able.

New literature unit

Next week we will begin a literature unit on Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate DiCamillo. We have begun to read this book some in class, but will get further into our study next week. Having a copy of the book is not a requirement, but if you alerady have one at home, or would like to pick one up, that would be great. Your child will construct a portfolio of their work on this unit for you to see when it is finished. This is a heartwarming tale that is full of life lessons for children and adults. It is my FAVORITE children's book. I look forward to sharing it with these students.
